The Enforcement Department’s zonal office (Jaipur) on Monday seized foreign and Indian currency worth Rs 3.75 crore and over 39 kg of gold and silver in raids in multiple cities against jewellers associated with an alleged gold-smuggling hawala racket. Cow vigilantes allegedly struck again in Alwar district near Haryana border on Monday. Around 5am, the police found two injured persons in a mini truck that had rammed into a house in Govindgarh area of the district. On searching, the police found two calves and three cows in the mini truck. The two injured were immediately rushed to Alwar’s district hospital. The two calves died in the accident and their post-mortem has been conducted.
Several Congress workers gathered at the Collectorate Circle to protest the ‘anti-reservation stance’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre on Sunday. A day after chief minister Ashok Gehlot made Kota collector Om Prakash Kasera read out the complaint of 60-year-old widow Yasmeen during a video conference, the collector on Saturday handed over the sanction order to her for pension under the government’s widow pension scheme at her residence in Anantpura. He also apologised to her for making her wait six months.
The Union budget announcement of allowing private players to operate 150 trains on 100 identified routes will also benefit rail passengers of six cities in Rajasthan in getting connected to other cities. These trains, from super luxury to normal category, would operate soon after the tender process would be over by the railway board.
