Five travellers are currently admitted to hospitals in Maharashtra over suspicion of being infected by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), the state's health department said on Tuesday. Of them, three are being treated at Naidu Hospital in Pune, while two are at civic-run Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai, according to a health department release here.
Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday said he won't block the National Population Register (NPR) in the state. Thackeray assured that he will "personally check the columns" in the NPR, adding there shouldn't be any problem with the exercise in Maharashtra.
A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court on Monday convicted and sentenced a 26-year-old man to seven years’ imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old girl in his neighbourhood in 2015. The minor was one of the witnesses to depose during the trial. The accused had earlier worked in the child’s house.
The 55-year-old guitarist accused of sexually abusing a US-based businessman’s minor daughter 10 years ago was granted bail by the Andheri metropolitan magistrate court on Monday. Magistrate Imran R Marchiya sent Bharat Panchal to judicial custody and later granted him bail on a bond of Rs 15,000.
